1. Introduction to the Field of Education Expertise

Education expertise is both a subject and a practical necessity. It is related to education systems and training models. As a subject, education system professionals must continuously explore the connotation of education expertise, and use the results of empirical research to test theories for their practical applicability, so as to establish education expertise as a standard for educational professionals in the future. As a practical requirement, comprehensive, far-reaching, and empirical mental researchers such as Prenzel and Richardson need to know what basic abilities or characteristics of education expertise of current in-service guidance teachers are based on, so that they can actually guide educational personnel at all levels, from the beginners in the classroom in the major subjects to education policy makers, to further their transformation in education expertise and to form and establish education expertise.

Education expertise is the most comprehensive concept in the field of education, and it is the first required ability and condition for educators in the field of education at all levels. Consensus of experts is that “education expertise” is a comprehensive one, not only including the basic knowledge and general skills necessary for education talents, but also paying great attention to the ability to serve the society in which they live, the ability to serve teachers, students, and parents in the classroom, and to pay attention to serving the whole society of national education and the world education. Education expertise is the fundamental professional ability and condition of education. It is a broad-range ability in the field of education. It is also diverse and multi-dimensional ability. The main research perspectives of education expertise are performance, content, and acquisition. At the same time, education expertise is a researched field with the practicality of meeting the needs of education in the times.

2. Key Contributions of Top Education Experts

What more do we need for good school people to do their good work effectively? We thank the scholars in the high school reform. Descriptions are concise, and authors delve deeply into those features of the contributors’ work that are needed to develop over time. They include new ideas, insights, or new applications of existing ideas killing the double comparisons. Their no-longer-debated assumptions, wild and careful mixtures of methods and results, differing definitions, large samples, the lengths, large and small effect sizes, differing educational contexts, differing statistical treatments of non-experimental studies, important implications all contribute to sufficient balance of research showing enough different negative effects of choice alongside positive and null ones. We support the larger story that their summaries can begin to present. We cannot think of a time when it is more important to hold firm in the good work that we do and that these scholars do.

Where would we be in the field if Tulis and his team had not developed grade-by-grade configurations of something like a “personal graduation plan” and 9th grade “guiding practice”? Or if Borman and his team had not demonstrated the effectiveness of five distinct USD studies in varying ways on graduation rate? Or if Douglas Harris’s “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly of Choice: A Research Synthesis of “Racial Preferences” in Student Assignments to Elementary and Secondary Schools and What They Mean for School Choice, Race and the Achievement Gap” were not in our midst of research on school choice? The authors believe that the work, findings, and advocacy of each of these scholars is a great gift to the field. Like good gifts, each of these contributions has the power to change those who receive them. They contribute mightily to the work of all the good professionals who work so hard to make schooling fundamentally important in children’s lives.

3. Challenges and Innovations in Education: Perspectives from Experts

In the responses we received, we heard about the ways that increased centering on media production is changing the pandemic classrooms and their priorities. We heard about the ways that video authoring has been brought to new heights in response to this increased purchase on media and are given some insight into why that shift is painful for many of us. We also heard about the ways that increased focus on student retention was driving innovation before the pandemic, and about how – in time – that innovation might be made to work for us. David Joyner is a Professor of the Practice in Computer Science at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

What are the greatest challenges that educators are facing right now, and why do they bring such pain? What innovation is currently being undertaken in response to the complications introduced by those adversities (or as a result of another cause)?

We asked these experts to consider a script of two prompt questions:

Learning Pathways is a site for and by educational technologists who work across higher education. This site is shaped by a liberal arts ethos. We believe in collaboration, in supporting innovation, and in openness. We want to encourage discussion and gain perspectives from across our field, so that we might be able to swap ideas about best practices and new innovations. As part of that mission, we reached out to a group of top experts to ask them to tell us about what they think are the big changes, adaptations, disasters, or resilience in the wider sector of teaching and learning.

4. Future Directions and Emerging Trends in Education Expertise

The rise of digital education and the need for teachers, designers, and technology experts to collaboratively design and deliver the digital educational programs is significant. The field of expertise in the digital education continent is beginning to be appreciated with the expansion and continued awareness of Digital Ed. What is now needed is to continue to expand expertise pathways for educators from initial training to in-service professional development. This requires collaboration among tertiary providers and in-service teacher mentors as well as bridging the gap between the education and technology fields. Digitally competent educators are the key to effective ICT integration in teaching and learning and further research is required to quantify the effectiveness of micro-credentials in delivering expertise both at an entry and advanced levels.

With the aim of considering the field of expertise in education from historical, theoretical, and practical viewpoints, the chapters of this publication have presented and highlighted a body of work garnered from academic lines of thinking and research.
