Scholarship essay is used to determine whether a person behind the application deserves a scholarship and offer to pursue certain educational study or not. Throughout my educational experience, I have always been interested in working with people and doing what I can to help others. I have spent the past 13 years working as a school social worker. In this position, I have worked with students with disabilities and their families to improve their school experience. My job is to assist in getting these students the special education services that best fit their individual needs, and to make sure that these students are treated fairly and have the same opportunities as any other student. I know and understand the specific special education laws and how to best advocate for these students. I have built up my knowledge on special education and disability issues throughout my years working as a school social worker. Because of my passion for the field, it is inevitable that I will pursue a degree in special education. This degree will allow me to expedite my efforts and advocate for these students more directly within the school system. My end goal is to work hands-on with students in the special education setting and really make a difference in their lives. When I think of the reasons why I want this scholarship, the first thing that comes to my mind is I deserve this – how do the reasons why I deserve a scholarship not. I am very ambitious and I have high hopes for my future. I am very determined to reach my goal. This scholarship will assist me in reaching my final goal, which is to ultimately get my Bachelor’s in Science and Nursing; this leads me to my next reason. I want to help people, no matter where it is or what I am doing. I hope to instill my drive and ambition to my own children, so that they know that they can do anything they set their mind to. I do not want money to be a reason my kids do not succeed following their dreams. I am the oldest of three children and I have always been the responsible one, the one to set the example. Whereas in his essay, the tagline of “what you plant now, you will harvest later” is truly reflecting the importance of his studies in hoping a better future. Step in writing a scholarship essay is completed by Sheila, yet the challenge that she has comes from higher competition with local students. This proved to be a tough situation for her when need to get the scholarship studying overseas, at the same time her parent wants her to move up her education level with local universities. The challenge is clearly stated in her recommendation to AKEPT that do not reduce the number of allocated scholarships to study abroad at the expenses of our future generation.
