The Importance of my Admission Essay

1. Introduction

This last month has become a momentous time for me and my family. As many Indonesian-Chinese parents would, my parents have picked an auspicious date for the graduation of my private, Catholic education by months of research and convincing on their part. A traditional dinner followed, with several members of my family and my godparents. In essence, this occasion has been the epitome of my parents’ pride and dreams, as well as the end of my life so far. During the dinner, my father said, “We have done the best we could… but this is only the beginning for him.” He couldn’t be more right. Ventures to seek higher education, or at least continue learning, after completion of high school are abundant. However, the journey through high school has left a student with laments of regrets or self-doubt, whether it was not taking a challenging course, choosing certain friends, or not being proactive enough in a community. These thoughts become burdens and obstacles that potentially hinder an ambitious path to a higher education. The student will constantly remind himself that, “if only I had done that…”. This is where my laments become important. This essay is pivotal for my hopes of entering UW’s computer science program, for without it, I would be in the same position of regret and doubt shared by others. This essay has to explain why.

2. Personal Background and Achievements

I am Filipino and I was born in Quezon City on September 26, 1984. I was a bright and intelligent child. I always get an honor in school. I am active in extra-curricular activities during my elementary education. When I was in high school, my uncle came from the US and invited me to study again in America. My uncle said that it is better for me to study in America because I have Filipino-American friends. And then I decided to take his offer and went to the US with him. I stopped my schooling and felt disappointed because it’s difficult for me to understand the English language. And due to my undying spirit and determination to be successful in life, I pursue my studies and earned a High School Diploma at James Lick High School in San Jose. While studying and doing a part-time job, I still get an honor and I am active in sports. I am in the badminton varsity team and I am also a chess varsity when I was in high school. When it’s time for me to enter college, I have a hard time looking for a course because I want to take a course based on my capability to learn. Since I am active in sports and I do a part-time job, the best course for me is a business course. I was a 3rd-year college when my uncle came from the US again to tell me to apply for a job as a computer technician at GSPN Inc. in Guam. He said that it’s better for me to earn money while studying. And then I applied for a job and fortunate enough to be part of their company. Due to my hard work and perseverance, the employer saw my potential in doing work. I was promoted as an IT Supervisor at my age right now. And because of being so busy, my studies become affected and resulted in stopping studying. And after 7 years of working, I said to myself that I have a stable work and it’s better for me to finish my college degree before I grow old. I attained a job experience at my young age. As of now, I am engaging studies at UOG to take a college degree even though I am old, it’s better late than never. Because of hard work and due to my past job experience, UOG accepts me as a student and offering to me a scholarship grant due to my capability. I am now taking up Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Computer Information System. And I will examine my studies to be able to get a good job in the field of computer. And now I am working again but a part-time job only. I want to be more successful in life, so I will do the best I can to pursue my dream. And also I am engaged in internet marketing. I am earning some bucks and at the same time studying. This is the prime of my life and it’s time for me to enjoy the benefits of my hard work. Because of my past experiences in life which is full of trials, I am now a responsible and flexible person. I know that this wouldn’t happen if this is not the demand of destiny for me to learn something new.

3. Motivation and Goals

The process of further education will profoundly impact my life. I hope to one day be a great psychologist, and I believe that this program at XXXX University is the optimal place for me to start to achieve that dream. I succeed well under supervision and I have a great passion for learning. I have always been an above average student and succeeded well in every academic curriculum I undertook. Moreover, I am determined to make the most out of this education. I have been delaying going back to school to work because I did not want to squander the opportunity I had when I was an undergraduate. But now, I am ready to get back into full-time education, and I am ready to succeed. This is why the course of study does not frighten me. I know that the possible existence of a thesis will be a great positive and something that I will be proud of, and it will provide further experience and serve to develop my intellect in this field.

4. Unique Qualities and Contributions

The cultural diversity that makes up the band is reflected in Razdaz’s approach to composition. The band’s music is not written with a specific goal of intercultural fusion; rather, it is a meeting of five musicians who care deeply about their own traditions and who share a fascination with the vast tapestry of world music. At times, the musical discourse between tradition and innovation can be quite subtle, but often it is a conscious merging of disparate musical elements. This melding of styles and influences has resulted in music that defies genre specification and has created ample room for collective and individual growth as composers and performers.

Throughout musical history, the composer has often been at the mercy of political situations. Their cultural contributions are whittled away in the turbulent tides of territorial squabbles and times of war. The music of Razdaz, however, is characterized by what is possible when politics take a back seat. When an Israeli, Pakistani, German, Turkish, and American musician collaborate in an exploration of the music that inspires them. This unique cultural bouquet not only provides an internal learning experience for each artist involved but also a musical result that would be impossible coming from a single source.

5. Conclusion

By reading this essay, the board will also have realized the significance of the essay. An essay will be a picture or you say a portrait that carries the image or the sayings of the writer. The planning, the content, and the layout are said to be the mirror image of the writer and this is the reason that enables the board to examine the writer and find out how much he/she is capable of. Here in the essay, I have done the explanation of an event as if I am the one hosting the event. This is actually an exhibition of my capability and talents. The way I have explained everything, I have put all my sincerity into the event. By this, the board could measure how enthusiastic the person is. My involvement in the event explains that I am a kind of person who never steps back until or unless I achieve what I desire. By providing the contents of the event, I seemed to have portrayed my farsightedness in life. How far I can see and what change can I bring into a simple event was explained in the essay. Step by step explanations show my systematic way of doing things. My thoughts of mixing different activities simultaneously in the event is a portrayal of my multitasking capabilities. And the most important part that could be realized from the essay is, even though doing so many things, how can I be a useful person to society. I have done a small conversion activity with the refugee students, which really needs appreciation. What I have in mind, I have done in the essay, carrying my every thought into actions. That’s me, and this essay is a clear description of me.
