One of the main options is the simple, five-paragraph essay in which you will write one paragraph for the introduction, three paragraphs for the body of your essay, and a conclusion to wrap things up. Another option is the extended five-paragraph essay. Some of your literature essays may require you to evaluate a character, a conflict or resolution, so you would use the extended template and write an introduction or thesis sentence, three body paragraphs and a conclusion. Either way, your literary analysis should include information to help readers understand what the characters involved are like, what occurs during the story, and what the messages are within the story. If the story is not straightforward, ensure you address the findings from any other angle or viewpoints. Make sure you cover what others thought about it as well as what you thought. Try to compare and contrast something. While pulling that comparison or contrast off, you are showing you understand the story and its deeper meaning. You will also want to create a bibliography or references list at the end of your text. If your story is from an online resource, this bibliography and references list should contain the author’s name, the title of the story and the website from which it was retrieved. 5. Writing a Compelling Conclusion

Great essays often have great conclusions. It is important that the retrospective create emotional involvement here. What examples dramatically show the depth of the conclusion reached? How can the writer grip the reader’s sensitivity and sensitivity? Make sure you mention the origins of your ideas, and perhaps their early division due to conflicting beliefs – perhaps even including ideological views, arrogances and who has been cast out! Retrospectives begin with expressions such as ‘Of course,’ or ‘It is not accidental that earlier in this essay, it was argued’, continue, with phrasings such as, ‘Indeed,’ ‘This leads us to the conclusion that…’, ‘Thus we understand that,’ ‘Recall from the [something] example that’.

In a persuasive text, your conclusion should be neatly tied up with what came before it – and it should leave the reader satisfied. You don’t want to finish off with a bang, only to leave your reader with a ding! Your conclusion is the last thing your marker will read. It needs to be convincing and powerful, and it might even need to leave the marker with something to consider. Consider linking it back to your introduction, or continuing the line of argument that gave your essay its direction in the first place. Don’t introduce new ideas that needed to be integrated into the essay body. This means your conclusion is about balance: you want to continue on with the argument (to strengthen the writer’s argument), but you don’t want to extend the essay as such, as the logical end has been reached.
