In a global society where cultural diversity continues to grow, it is essential that we engage directly with students on the roles and contributions of historical figures. These vastly important figures in history have left a lasting impression on present-day problems and will continue to shape the modern world as we know it. By weaving the historic contributions and challenges into our educational system, we are able to reinforce a historical base for our students. We are able to engage in complex discussions about the past, present, and what legacy will be left behind. No conversation or discourse about the world and its present issues is complete without a review of their historical context or origins.
