1. Introduction to Healthcare Quality Assurance

The explicit focus on quality has emerged alongside increasing demands for accountability and comparative data demonstrating the value of health care. As users of medical care become more demanding, they expect, if not demand, results exceeding statistical life expectancies. The future financial stability of health systems will depend on their ability to offer cost effective and efficient care delivery and management and to manage large commodity budgets. As well as economic considerations, ethical concerns for professional standards and the protection of human rights have driven quality assurance activities within health systems. High health service standards are seen to be virtues underpinning the concept of solidarity, a core value of systems using a social insurance model that seeks to maintain social equity.

Attaining high quality and safe healthcare is at the top of the policy agenda for most advanced health systems. Despite massive investment in healthcare, the well-documented quality chasm has prompted researchers and practitioners to investigate and address significant shortfalls in healthcare service standards. This widespread concern for healthcare quality and safety is reinforced by a litany of adverse events, clinical errors, medication mistakes, and ineffective and fragmented care delivery. They provide the rationale for considering and advancing various aspects of healthcare quality in healthcare management and academic research.

2. Methodologies and Tools for Assessing Healthcare Quality

Quality improvement (QI), a systematic approach to improving the delivery of care, is frequently corralled into the long list of healthcare systems. It is also one of the most misunderstood strategies that are perceived to be akin to other more salient government-driven public health measures such as mandatory and routine health screenings, vaccination campaigns, and routine breastfeeding, to name just a few. Although hospital organizations can agree on what quality, access, cost, and safety are, often they are not mutually exclusive. Therefore, they need to trade-off along these performance dimensions and often they need to follow national, regional, and local expectations. Essentially, definitions of healthcare quality articulate overall standards of excellence. Excellence shapes local service standards, and service standards translate into the best and equitable care available to the community by using resources wisely and consistently. This conclusion presents and critically reviews a comprehensive bibliography of the key twenty specific articles for each category. Over 140 publications were reviewed. The quality concepts and methodologies emanating from this critical review are used to inform a systematic approach to document and compare performance over time on key measures of healthcare quality.

3. Key Findings and Best Practices from Notable Article Reviews

Three primary findings summarize my responses to the task. Storytelling has been considered a research paradigm and could potentially become one, but there are not very adequate frameworks established yet. The role of storytelling is associated with culture. This is consistent with the conclusions that build up a large volume of the culture literature. Building a story-following organization will affect the effectiveness of healthcare organizations positively. In sum, the use of storytelling is a concept that is very valuable. Additionally, the increased use of stories offers interesting possibilities in terms of understanding and managing culture. The present study has thus contributed to the ongoing debate concerning the use of stories and, in effect, explained what shapes the (effective) organizational culture and the outcomes such cultures have.

The review findings allowed for an understanding that managers can create and sustain an effective culture by the use of storytelling. The effectiveness of healthcare organizations can be improved from this understanding and will lead to more consistent performance in areas such as quality of service and financial performance. A stronger culture has also been related to better commitment, high levels of employee morale and loyalty, and the ability for employees in an organization to effectively handle change. Based on these findings, our main finding, which is that storytelling can be used as a tool to facilitate the understanding of what shapes effective healthcare organizational cultures and to develop better such cultures, is open for discussion.

4. Challenges and Future Directions in Healthcare Quality Assurance

Delivering thriving health and wellness care for the disadvantaged involves two significant inter-cohort components: an amendment of quality of prevention and cure to make it more fairness as partial at the root by the government of the day, and more open to the marginalized; and second is to persuade the marginalized to use the health care services.
