How to Create a Footnote Citation Generator

1. Introduction

Log on to Google and search “Footnote Citations”. Click on the first link that reads “Footnote”. Once at the site, look to find “Add a New Article” or similar wording on the left. Click on it. It makes citation easy and less time-consuming since the tool automatically formats the sourced information to the required format. The entire document is created without manual entry of Footnote and Reference and Bibliography information. This project aims to design and implement a Footnote citation generator, which facilitates the automated generation of Footnotes and the Reference and Bibliography in documents.

3. Designing the Footnote Citation Generator

There are a few decisions you need to make when creating a footnote generator. Firstly, there is the question of whether the footnote appears in the editor view or only in the ‘published’ state. You may find one method to be more distracting than the other. If you decide to show the footnotes in the editor view, any updates will clear the footnotes. It’s safe to set aside footnotes for the published view. There’s also the question of whether or not you will or will not allow a secondary citation when citing a passage which was cited earlier in the text. Finally, there is the question of whether to preserve the formatting in your quotation text selections when it comes to things like line breaks. The answers to these questions depend almost entirely on your personal preferences as a writer and represent the main decisions you will make in the generative workflow. Keep in mind that each of these larger concepts can be further refined thanks to their flexibility in tools like Scrivener.

Now that you know what a footnote citation looks like and the rules surrounding one, you can use that information as a guide to design your footnote citation generator. So where is the code? Well, I have created a new file: ftc.php which contains our function. All we need to do is to include this script right at the top of field.php. It’s that easy! What I do not want to do is to repeat all the elements of this code. I believe that I have done so elsewhere in my Programming and Macro blogs. So what you would need to do is to just open up this file and follow the code and comments in the file. Comment out parts of the file to see how it works. From this, you can see how easy it would be to make different types of blog posts, not just with book lists of journal articles or the like, but you might also list YouTube clips, songs, arbitrary online websites, code on local or remote servers online. You can imagine that the ability to include YouTube clips would make our blog posts more interesting and interactive for readers and may in some way contribute to the overall site reader experience at your particular blog.

Having fulfilled these prerequisites, let us proceed to implementing the Footnote Citation Generator now. It is so easy. In fact, I have written a piece of PHP code that can add a footnote to our post. So in our field.php file, we will add a new function called generate_footnote. 5. Conclusion

This work has also highlighted the particularity of the references in each of the authors’ works, with time slices of various types, with upward references dating from the period when the authors conducted their studies and downward references dated later. Some of the references encountered in this study have, at first glance, a very peculiar nature, such as forward references dating from 1962-2006 and the 203 documents dated before 742. All the diverse aspects of bibliometry that these anomalies raise do not constitute research objectives that could be conducted in the future by other interested parties.
