The purpose of Suite EWE is to analyze students’ essays using a set of features that includes writing mechanics, development and organization, grammar, usage, word choice, and style. These essays are not read and scored by human readers. Instead, they are scored by the system based on the set of features provided by the instructors. This suite processes written exercises for revision and standardized tests, including those for college admission. When employed in college admission testing, the writing mechanics and EWE components are used.
