1. Introduction

For as long as I could remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education. My goal is to become a teacher, and currently I am pursuing a degree in Secondary Education. When I was in high school, I did not like school or teaching, but as I was working at my first job, I found myself teaching adults and they, in return, taught me a few things. After I began working at an Elementary school and working with children around the age of 8, I knew that this was the right atmosphere for me. While working there, it was up and down for me, but the kids were great and they really enjoyed having me there to help them. This is why I feel that I am a great candidate for the teaching scholarship offered by your organization. It is my goal to further myself in the teaching profession so I may give the best instruction possible, giving the children of the future a better tomorrow. This scholarship will help me achieve my long-term goal to educate future generations. With the teaching scholarship, it will give me some much-needed ease on my financial burdens, which will allow me to help smaller generations that are in great need.

2. Personal Background and Career Aspirations

Charting a highly attainable engineering career, I next plan to weigh the difference between a company and government job whether it be local or federal. I plan to intern at a number of government agencies while I am in college and take that experience and compare it to both intern/co-op programs as well as a full-time job at the completion of college. I am confident I will have the best results with the internships and co-op programs and I hope to intern with a great company after my junior year at Georgia. In the end, I consider a Masters in Business Administration for a transition into a high-up company position.

As a senior, I am now taking an introductory course into engineering where I become more and more intrigued on pursuing this career. I would say my main interest comes from building and constructing. I love the idea of creating a complex idea into an actual, tangible object. One of my favorite projects came in physics class and our instructor challenged us to create a vehicle that would carry a raw egg down a 200-foot zip line. Our goal was to get the egg to roll down the line and have it stop as close to 200 feet without breaking more than 5 inches. This project had a great impact on me because there were so many of ideas that our group had and it was up to me as a leader to guide us in the right direction to choose the best possible design.

Football has altered all of these qualities. Nowadays, I think that you can’t be an individual in society without understanding football. Football is a key motivator for me to do well in life, it relies on many of the same things that I depend on in my everyday life. Football makes me a leader because through football, I showcase my talents and skills to the best of my ability for the purpose of winning a game. Off the field, I have to showcase my skills and talents in the same manner to help my future team or company in winning the job or contract. There is a reason that most players are successful in their lives after football and I am certain that is because football teaches you how to be successful. I consistently associate my life’s skills to those used in football which is a main reason why it is so important to me.

3. Relevance of Scholarship to Career Goals

My educational aspirations consist of acquiring a bachelor’s degree in any biological or health science that would assist me in pursuing a medical career as a doctor. On the other hand, my career vision is to one day be able to provide affordable health care to marginalized communities in the United States. Getting a scholarship would be crucial towards achieving my education and career goals. This scholarship would help me continue my education and potentially save thousands of underserved people in the United States. By receiving an affordable education, I would be able to further my career into providing free medical services. I have been involved in direct medical care, and at the moment, I am striving to build a foundation for free clinic services that would provide care for the underserved in this country. Creating this venue would not be easy, and would need a great deal of resources. Once I have established stability and am able to provide free medical services to an entire town, I have hope to spread throughout the United States.

That time when I almost dropped out of school and had to move to another institution in order to adapt and grow, I thought of quitting the idea of furthering my studies. Nevertheless, I realize it is important for me to plant a good foundation as it will determine my future career and graduate life. Therefore, I seek advice from my sister who is a degree holder and she told me when she was doing her degree, she faced income problems to support her study fees after her PTPTN loan has finished awarded, thus she only managed to settle her study fees and graduate after she met her current employer that offered her a stable education plan and position. This is when I started to do my own research and I came across the STAR scheme from Bank Negara which offers education loan, allowance, and scholarship to SPM students that succeeded in furthering their studies in any local universities. After I had been accepted as one of the successful candidates for the scheme, I managed to bring up my CGPA, got offered to join an education expo to another country, and completed my degree in less than 3 years. The experiences above give me motivation and a point of view about my future and career planning. I understand that jobs nowadays only give a stable position and proper income to someone with a high education level. And it is a very competitive market to get a job offer as a fresh graduate because recruiters only offer the best to fill in the position. I was a part-time tutor and one of my student’s parents offered me an investment plan for their plantation, but as I need to compare the duration and prospect of return, I think a stable job is more suitable for me if it is in a better position in the education field. Hopefully, by the year 2021 after I finish my PPA studies, I can be a successful person and help the industry by using my knowledge and experience that I gained.
