The Importance of Article Review Papers

1. Introduction

A health article review is an article summary. Sometimes, a student is asked to read an article and write a short summary. It differs in that it is focused on the health of the population. In examining an article, the objective of the student should be to look for the implications of the research. The following items may help the writer organize an article review. Make sure the writer knows why they are reading the article and what they are looking for. People read articles for different purposes. The writer should be able to summarize their intentions in reading the article, the important points in the article, and any results. The writer should then be able to clarify this for the reader. This step may help the writer organize their thoughts and also more clearly outline the article for the summary. It is usually most effective to have the article in front of you as well as a blank page. Jot down and note your thoughts in a clear organized fashion. When writing a summary, the writer must take into consideration what format to use. A summary is usually a more desired method. Convey the article implications without recreating the article. Use transitions to guide your reader through your writing. Move through the article methodically. This should help the writer overcome any confusions or difficulties they experience when writing. Start by outlining the article. Make sure to clarify any confusions the writer may have. Then make a list of questions that the writer might have concerning the article’s content. Next, read through the article methodically. Only read a small portion of the article at a time. After reading, restate each portion of the article in your own words. Do not go on to the next section until each specific portion has been clearly understood. Now refer back to your notes. Try to answer the list of questions the writer has drawn up. If they cannot be answered, go back to the article and form the previous to present answers. The answer to your questions is usually the implications of the article. Now that the writer has answered them, restate the article once again and the answer to your questions while writing. This process should provide a clear and complete summary of the implications of the article.

2. Methodology

Then, we used a table as described by the Critical Appraisal Skills Programme for qualitative research with different PC and an ACE to gain an understanding of each article. We began with the nature and the main idea from both articles, and then proceeded with the assessment of whether these articles are valuable sources of information about epidemiology.

After obtaining the original article and the example of the review article, we conducted a critical appraisal. In most cases, when selecting a review article, we must consider the topic, whether it is in our area of interest or related to our research question. Next, the author and the journal or source of the article must be clearly stated or associated with someone who is an expert in a certain field.

Then, we compared it with an example of a review article titled “Zoonotic Leptospirosis on Madura Island: A Neglected Public Health Problem” by the authors Setyawan As and Willy Sandhukhan. This article was taken from the internet from Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kesehatan Sanglah Denpasar. What we sought from this review article was a comprehensive explanation about epidemiology and whether we could understand the beginning interest of epidemiology from this article.

Because we wanted to know the importance of the review article in epidemiology, we must compare it with the original article. We browsed everywhere and used various sources to find the best example of a review article associated with epidemiology. In this occasion, we used an article from Lilienfeld and Stolley (1994) titled “Epidemiology as a Science” that was published in the Journal of Public Health Reviews. This original article was recognized as a useful article for understanding the beginning interest in epidemiology because it provides a simple and comprehensive explanation about epidemiology, similar to when someone starts to learn how to conduct research.

3. Findings and Analysis

E-EL has studied the various ways in which articles are obtained and read, but has not explored how this relates to an article’s review. This study looking into how students and professionals locate articles may directly affect article review. Although it’s quite arguable that many articles reviewed today are those saved by the researcher for later analysis. This often occurs when an article is unobtainable or unclear as to whether the article is worth purchasing and can be quite similar to an offline software product trial. This decision is usually made by the article’s title, readability, and relevance to an issue.

Those reading articles in a professional manner seek out the article or a relevant issue, usually having a particular journal in mind. These individuals will attempt to access the article through library resources or inter-library loan. This offers implied two major groups covered under the student category and the professional looking to print the article. E-EL has claimed that students often print articles from the web, which can be located using a search at a later time to avoid the peril of a forgotten URL. Print is typically accomplished by students wanting a hard copy of the article or an additional copy for light reading and markup. This differs from the professional, who will print the article directly from the journal source.

The first category is the article’s intent and design, focusing on how an article is read. Generally, most students skim through the text to pick up information. During this period, the reader will have formulated an opinion as to whether or not the article would be useful. Students determine an article’s value based on the abstract, quick scan of the article, and its relevance to the topic, leading them to print the article if it is of substantial value.

The research that has been conveyed in this article related to the importance of article review paper has clearly shown the purpose of article review. The research summarizes a few factors that are considered by many different authors about article review. These factors basically are the objective of article review, the price for writing the article compared to the tutorial and the main article, critical phase of article that affects a decision to buy, and article readability.

4. Discussion and Implications

Article review papers serve a very important function in our society, especially for students. The ability to read, comprehend, and critically analyze a published article is crucial in many aspects of a student’s academic career. For example, article reviews play an important role in evidence-based medicine, as it is the main source of transmitting and discussing scientific information. By randomly selecting certain types of reviews, medical decisions can be made on the basis of marketing, rather than on the best available evidence. By teaching students to critique and write an article review on a certain piece of scientific literature, this helps to weed out poor medical practice and is a mandatory skill for all evidence-based healthcare professionals. If tomorrow’s doctors are not taught to critically analyze evidence, inefficient or even harmful practices will be directly passed on to the patient. A similar view can be taken on all professions requiring research and publication of findings. From a student’s point of view, writing an article review enhances one’s critical thinking skills and reinforces their ability to draw conclusions based on evidence. It is important for students to decipher the credibility of the scientific article in question. This is often a difficult task given the current oversaturation of the scientific literature with very poor to marginal articles. It is always easy to review a good article, however, it is most beneficial to learn from critiquing a bad article, as this can often be more informative if done properly.

5. Conclusion

Importance of article review papers. Article review, like any other academic writing task, is a skill. Article review is a piece of writing where you summarize and assess someone else’s article. The goal of the preparatory work is stylistic perfection. The article review student must demonstrate that he understands the article, grasp its relevancy to the course, and provide a reaction to the article’s author. In this scholarly writing, students have an opportunity to engage the mind of the author and to react with the student’s own mind. This is only accomplished through a thorough understanding of the article, which is exhibited through preparatory work. This hint of student cognitive involvement is so often missed in instruction. Not only is the student thinking at higher levels in requiring an explanation, reaction type paper, but he is creating better knowledge of the content, which will be remembered much better than that of a lower level thinking exercise. Higher level thought is what education is about, and article review accomplishes this even while the student is still learning to write. Higher level thought is also what the student will be required to demonstrate in almost all professions: an ability to think and react to what is read, to evaluate its worth, and then try to push the content to better stages. Higher level thought is increasingly being required even in lower job levels; it is imperative for success in today’s workforce.
