These works mostly focus on Christmas from the nostalgic, wistful side, with Dickens mourning that Christmas had become “but a time for feasting and revelry.”

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed during the traditional Christmas season. Gifts, parties, holiday trips, photo cards, admiring lights and decorations – and all of this while keeping routine winter activities functional and up to our standards. It can be easy to forget the deeper kind of joy that comes from the festivity, from introspection, or from delving into a creative task.
