1. Introduction

The very recent explosion of deep learning has dramatically accelerated our progress in this area. Traditionally, our work in this field involved manually coding rules and heuristics to make different inferences about how to apply changes based on slide content. First a little background. In my last year of college, I was working for a professor that was doing some preliminary work in analyzing video of presentations to detect patterns in nonverbal communication. He had a vision to create a tool that could help people practice their presentations by recording the practice sessions and giving feedback about how to improve. My first assignment was to create a Microsoft PowerPoint plugin that would help visualize the data he was getting from the video analysis. After just a few weeks, I showed him a prototype that could generate automatic slide transition recommendations based on the similarities of slide content and the presenter’s transitions in the practice session. Followed by the various positive developments in the field, it is also noted that there are few downfalls to the concept of automation in healthcare, which are discussed as a part of the future scope of the project. With the concept of future work, we finally completed the project with a detailed study about the future of healthcare and health informatics. Overall, this project undoubtedly gives a great deal of knowledge about robotic-assisted surgery and the future of healthcare, which is what we desired through our research and analysis.

Finally, we ended the report by explaining how AI informatics is carried out with the case study of using AI informatics in predicting readmission of heart failure patients. The concept is explained in a detailed manner and highlights the golden future of AI in healthcare. With this project, we helped in understanding the concept of robotic surgery and the AI tool in shaping the future of healthcare at a deeper and clearer level.

The second part of the project describes the field of healthcare informatics and how healthcare is getting into automation. It explains the concept of AI in healthcare and the future of AI in shaping the healthcare sector. We highlighted the various advantages of AI in healthcare and explained the concept of the AI tool ‘IBM Watson’ with an example.

This project helped in bringing forth the detailed study and analysis about robotic surgery and the future of healthcare. The first part of the report revolves around the detailed study and advantages of robotic surgery over laparoscopy and open surgeries. It explains how robotic surgery has advanced over the years and highlights the various advantages and specifications of the same.
